Outside tape
the usual tape job I have been doing is one spiral of cloth tape and two thin spirals of metallic/holographic tape...however, I have shifted to doing 2 spirals of cloth tape because the cloth tape gives more traction and last a lot longer than the metallic. The metallic looks bright and shiny by day and under the lights, but even though I cover it with protective clear tape, it frays off every time it gets bumped or scraped...so I no longer use the metallic tape, though you could add it on your own. The link to tape colors takes you to identi-tape, where I get nearly all my tape and they will hook you up. Nearly all people now prefer to have the hoop without tape…I sand the inside surface of the tubing thoroughly for traction, and without any tape that gives slightly more light and a different look. Or you can add a ring of 1/2" cloth tape all the way around the inside surface of the hoop, best in a light color, and this also adds traction.
